Railfuture News Snippets 178 - 26/08/2008



The next branch meeting will be in September 27th 2008 at Norwich Chapelfield Methodist Chapel. Details will be in Rail East.

The Railfuture AGM for 2008 will be reconvened on 6th September in Peterborough in order to receive the Annual report and Accounts for 2007 and 2008. At the AGM in May the 2008 accounts were not ready and the 2007 ones were only in draft form.

The branch regrets to announce that charles Taylor, a long-standing stalwart of the Railfutue East Anglian Branch, has died. He was Vice-Chairman of the Branch for very many years and was also Chairman of the Felixstowe Branch of the User Group ESTA. The committee has agreed to contribute towards his favourite charities.

ESTA produces questionnaire to discover if moving Lowestoft station would be detrimental to passengers

The East suffolk Travellers Association (ESTA) has produced a questionnaire for passengers using Lowestoft station, which will be used as evidence to show that th emajority of passenger would be disadvantaged if the station was moved further inland, away from its ideal seafront location. ESTA and the Wherry Lines Community Rail Partnership have set funds for the questionnaire, and have also requested some funding from the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership as well as Railfuture's Fighting Fund.
