The Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph have been identified as giving readers the wrong impression about global warming, Press Gazette reported on 6 May 2005.

"Some parts of the press either knowingly or unwittingly are promoting the views of an extremist lobby which denies the scientific evidence,” said Bob Ward of the Royal Society, Britain’s national academy of science.

He said there was a well-organised but tiny lobby, partly funded by oil companies, which does not want to see a cut in the use of fossil fuels.

He said it was remarkable how one article in the Daily Mail faithfully reproduced the propaganda put together by the denial lobby in the US.
