National Rail Travelcard Add-On Survey Spring 2022

There are current proposals to abolish the London Travel Card National Rail Add-on (see our article for more information). This survey is designed to help us understand how the Travelcard Add-On is used.

All questions about frequency & usage are about your journeys within London from the time you step off your inbound National Rail service on arrival in London to the time you board your National Rail Service to return to your home / origin.

In this context, a Travelcard Add-on is when you buy a ticket where it is sold as a Travelcard and the destination on the ticket is “London Zones 1 – 6”.

Regularly = One third or more of the time (or for a Season ticket, to cover one third or more of journeys)
You can check TfL's Map of the Zones (a TfL zonal map is here).

We don't need to ask about bus usage as that is always deemed to be in Zones 1 & 2.
Overground includes TfL Rail and, in time, the Elizabeth Line
Do not include HS1 St Pancras to Stratford as this is not included in the Travelcard
Within 40 miles of the edge of Greater London includes this includes Bedford, Cambridge, Colchester, Ashford (Kent), Brighton, Basingstoke & Oxford
(Which we will only use for matters other than this survey if you opt in via the next but one question)
