Just two days more than 30 years after its predecessor was closed, construction works to open a new Lea Bridge station were inaugurated on 10 July 2015 by Transport Minister Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon and the Leader of Waltham Forest Council in north-east London.

This marks the success of a Railfuture campaign, led by its local affiliated rail user group the Chingford Line Users' Association.  Supported by a grant from Railfuture's Fighting Fund, CLUA commissioned independent adviser Jonathan Roberts Consulting to report on the benefits of re-opening the former station.  Read more at JRC report
