The rebuilt station will have level access, two new platforms, a rebuilt car park, a greatly improved station approach road and integrated transport with cycle parking and bus stops. Lighting across the station will be energy efficient and the station building has been designed to make as much use of natural light as possible.

This is part of the Evergreen 3 project to build a new rail line between Oxford and London Marylebone. It is also another step in the implementation of the western section of the East West Rail scheme, for which Railfuture has campaigned over the last 20 years, that will reinstate the railway for passenger and freight services through to Milton Keynes and Bedford.

Potential routes for an extension further east, to link Oxford with Cambridge, are being assessed and our campaign to restore this link continues - for more details and to register your support see http://www.railfuture.org.uk/ox-cam.
