Press release 27th July 2015

Railfuture welcomes the East West Rail Central Section Study identifying a pair of preferred corridors for a railway linking Bedford to Cambridge

Railfuture warmly welcomes the news released today by the East West Rail Consortium of Local Authorities, that shows the two preferred corridor options of the Central Section of East West Rail between Cambridge and Bedford. Either corridor eventually chosen for development will revolutionise the connectivity of East Anglia and the South Midlands.

Peter Wakefield, Chairman of Railfuture East Anglia, particularly welcomes the inclusion of a railway station at Cambridge Addenbrooke’s and looks forward for further local benefits to Cambridge and west through Cambridgeshire as plans develop.

Railfuture East Anglia is very pleased that this announcement vindicates our 25 year campaign to improve connectivity across this important region.
