Railfuture East Anglia has launched its award scheme to celebrate stations which have seen significant improvements to their accessibility and make them easy, comfortable and attractive stations to use.
The award aims to encourage better access for people with limited mobility including the elderly, disabled and young families by drawing attention to good practice.
Awards will be made on a continual basis as stations achieve 'gold' or 'silver' standard based on the following criteria:
The work is judged on what has been achieved in the most recent 12 months, with a 'Gold’ award for ‘best practice’ (all/most boxes ticked) and ‘Silver’ award for improvements/progress (most ticks added following recent works).
Certificates and plaques will be presented to winners.
We invite nominations from anyone, including:

Any station covered by Railfuture East Anglia is eligible, the area bounded by and including Peterborough, Stevenage, Stansted Airport and Kelvedon as shown on the map in this leaflet

There is no need to provide a detailed justification, although a background to your nomination would be useful.

The award aims to encourage better access for people with limited mobility including the elderly, disabled and young families by drawing attention to good practice.

- Toilets inc. for PRM and ‘baby changing
- ’Step free access to all platforms
- Parking including spaces for People with Restricted Mobility within reasonable distance of:-
- Waiting room well lit heated and comfortable
- All weather access to trains from station entrance
- Platform depth permitting 2 x PRM to pass
- Tactile paving on platform edge
- Even platform surface free of hollows / ‘trips’
- Functioning/compliant passenger information
- Help points
- Hearing loops
- Closed Circuit Television Monitoring (CCTV)
- Cycle Racks / Stands
