Guided busways have now emerged as a block to an expanded rail network. Busway threat Railfuture is campaigning for Britain to follow the example of France, Germany and Spain in building new high-speed rail lines. They help regeneration and are highly popular. Railfuture has shown that a national rail card would make money for the railways, be popular with the public and would help the Government to make more effective use of its transport investment.
