Special trains are running on the Bedford-Bletchley rail line this weekend to coincide with the Bedford river festival.

But for some strange reason, neither Bedfordshire County Council, nor Silverlink which runs the trains, nor Network rail seem interested in promoting them to the public.

There are stations at Bedford St John's, Kempston Hardwick, Stewartby, Millbrook, Lidlington, Ridgmont, Aspley Guise, Woburn Sands, Bow Brickhill and Fenny Stratford.

On Saturday 15 July 2006, an extra late night train will leave Bedford Midland at 23.10, calling at all stations to Bletchley.

That will allow people to watch the illuminated boat parade on the River Ouse at Bedford at 22.00, followed by the fireworks spectacular at 22.30.

Then on Sunday 16 July 2006, trains will run on the branch for the first Sunday service since 1988 when Network SouthEast sponsored the Bedford river festival.

Trains will leave Bletchley at 11.35, 12.20, 1305, 13.50, 14.50, 15.50 and 16.50.

Trains will leave Bletchley at 14.50, 15.50, 16.50, 17.50, 18.20, 19.20, 19.50 and 20.50

The extra trains were laid on after lobbying by the Bedford to Bletchley rail users association whose chairman Richard Crane has clocked up 25 years campaigning for better services on the line.
