The Royal Air Force has started using rail for the first since 1982, thanks to EWS.

During January and February 2005, EWS moved containers from RAF bases across Britain for exercises overseas.

EWS transported these containers back to the bases following
completion of the exercises.

The RAF has been impressed with the economic benefits and punctuality of
these services, and is examining the future of rail traffic with EWS.

All the containers were transported on EWS's multi-user wagonload network which consists of over 800 connecting multi-user services a week.

It enables businesses to send and receive goods from practically every rail-connected town and city in Britain.

EWS is the largest and fastest growing rail company in Britain,
providing a range of freight, passenger, engineering support and hire
services.

EWS provides a full nationwide service in Britain, with access to mainland Europe through the Channel Tunnel.

EWS hauls over 100 million tonnes of rail freight every year. 20
million lorry movements would be required to do what EWS does each year.

EWS operates over 8,000 services each week. On average, an EWS
service starts its journey every 90 seconds, all day, every day.
