Within a month of Transport for London's current London Overground concession operator LOROL taking over operation of the inner West Anglia (and Romford-Upminster) services and stations from Abellio Greater Anglia, TfL have announced another new trains order - and again from Bombardier in Derby.

45 new four-car electric trains will be shared between the Gospel Oak-Barking line (8 trains), the Liverpool Street-Enfield Town/Cheshunt via Seven Sisters and Chingford lines plus the Romford-Upminster service (31 trains), and 6 trains "to bolster services on other Overground routes."  Those six new 4-car trains may well replace the class 378 'Capitalstar' trains on the Euston-Watford Junction services which could then as 5-car trains be re-deployed to increase frequencies especially in the weekday peaks on the North and East London lines.

Network Rail are expected soon to confirm the detailed programme for electrifying the Barking-Gospel Oak line.  Meanwhile TfL have just concluded a second consultation on two options (with, or without, an intermediate station) on the planned extension of the line eastwards to serve a major new development at Barking Riverside.
