What Railfuture stands forRailfuture campaigns for cheap and convenient rail services for everyone; better links for buses, bikes and pedestrians; policies to get more heavy lorries on to rail; new lines, stations and freight terminals - better rail service and a bigger rail system for both passengers and freight. Rail is Britain's future strategic transport network (download article) - we want Britain's railway to be a successful railway. Our volunteer members in branches and around 300 local rail user groups campaign to get stations and lines reopened, and services and facilities improved, for the benefit of the community, economy and environment.

Who we areOur president is Christian Wolmar, the transport writer and broadcaster.
Our Vice Presidents include former rail chief executives Chris Green, Adrian Shooter CBE, and Ian Brown CBE, along with railway experts such as Roger Ford, Alan Williams and Barry Doe, several MPs, Lords and MEPs.
Elections are held annually among Railfuture members to choose the National Board of Directors which governs Railfuture.
Individual members form the National Directorates and Officers which determine policy and manage the activities of the society. Railfuture has 12 branches in England, plus Wales and Scotland, which meet locally and campaign on local issues.
What we doAs well as organising the annual national conference for rail users and user groups, (at Cambridge in June 2014) Railfuture works at local and national level with train operators and other stakeholders to secure a better railway. Railfuture makes awards to campaigners from its Fighting Fund to bring about improvements. Awards have been given, for example, for publicity initiatives and feasibility studies.
